Intro by TCM Writer Hannah Jack

Letty Lynton

19321 hr 24 min

TCM Writer Hannah Jack will join us in person to introduce this screening and talk about the decades-long battle to restore the film and make it accessible to audiences again, spearheaded by Crawford’s grandson, Casey Lalonde.

After 90 years of being trapped in legal limbo, this controversial Joan Crawford drama is ready to make its grand return to the big screen. Crawford pours her heart into the role of Letty, a Manhattan socialite trapped in a loveless affair with a cruel partner. She falls in love with another man on a steamship and goes to drastic lengths to leave her toxic relationship. Featuring one of the most iconic costumes of the era—the white organdy gown with endless ruffled sleeves designed by Adrian that set the tone for a whole decade of romanticized fashion—and one of the first to be made available in Macy’s, where it sold more than a half a million gowns.

Guest Speaker

Hannah Jack has been a writer for Turner Classic Movies for the past decade, scripting the hosted intros that air before the films on TCM. Hannah is also a tenured NYC public school teacher and continues to bring her film and teaching expertise to the Renew Theaters community, where her popular Deep Focus series on Classic Hollywood films is now in its sixth year. She frequently introduces classic movies at special screenings and festivals and has been a guest speaker at the TCM Classic Film Festival and on the TCM Classic Cruise.
